Storrs Campus Wastewater Testing Results
UConn is pioneering a research method that allows us to regularly test wastewater around campus to make an early determination on the presence of COVID-19. We are using two different measurements for COVID-19 in wastewater: E and N1 genes. We monitor two genes to increase the odds that we will be able to detect SARS-CoV2, even if there are strains that have mutated a mismatch of our probes.
This chart is a visual representation of the two different measurements we are using to test for COVID-19 in wastewater, filtered by location of collection.
Notes
The default location, WasteWaterTreatmentPlant, provides an approximate aggregate of the COVID-19 levels present in the Storrs campus wastewater. Other locations are available in the dropdown menu.
The X Axis shows wastewater collection dates for the selected location.
The Y Axis shows the ratio of detectable E and N1 genes to a fecal indicator virus for each wastewater collection date. The type of wastewater going into each sampling location is different. Therefore, the up or down trajectory along the Y Axis is of the highest importance (i.e., the day-to-day trends are more important than the values themselves).
